Hi, just wondering if my buckskin(?) could have silver in him. He has strands of white through his mane. I'm not even sure he is a true buckskin. His sire is a buckskin and his dam is black.Rocky Mountain buckskin with silver? Hd1110

That's a sooty buckskin if I've ever seen one. I don't see anything that implies silver at all. You're probably seeing "frosting".

Thanks! Is there any way to test for the sooty gene?

Unfortunately, not yet. Sad I'll be curious to see this one as he ages as I don't think he'll be a super sooty, but I think you'll always see some shading (like you're seeing on his face now).

He has definately darkened in his face. His body is more the color of the second picture but there is alot of black in it. I have another buckskin that has brown points and her color is totally different than HD's. Hers is more of a golden tan color.
