This stallion is quite a unique color. Some have speculated he is a very dark liver chestnut, I read him as a black silver, but with him living wild on the range there is also a chance that it is just sun bleaching (as it does not appear to go to the roots on the mane), though other darker horses in the same area do not have the faded mane and tail. He comes out of the south steens herd, which is also where the silver bay that someone else posted came out of. There were numerous other horses with light manes/tales that I was putting off as just a lot of flaxen manes/tales, but now I am speculating there is a silver gene in the herds in that area.
