Mini

I still have to get more pictures of the pony I asked about earlier (belongs to a friend) but what do you all think about the coloring on my new mini? Pictures are from the day I went to look at him, so he is pretty dirty from living outside. Much cleaner/fluffier now but it gets dark so early I havent had time to take pictures, plus its been snowing everyday.

Hard to tell with the mud, but I'm fairly certain he's a bay silver with pangare'. If that really is ALL mud on his legs he could be sooty flaxen chestnut, but I highly doubt it.

His legs are dark, thats not all mud. They are darker in the picture because they are wet. Some of his feathers are actually silver-ish. If weather holds I'll get some outside pictures this weekend

How about this picture? its indoors lighting is not the best. He's still dirty but here in northern NY it wont be bath season again until April... not with 2+ feet of snow and counting

I'm planning on getting him and the pony I posted before tested... so I'll be able to say definitely in a short period of time The mini is just the sweetest thing, just turned 3 and was only gelded 3 months ago. Spent most of his life running ina field. Farrier came tonight (had been months without a trim with other owners) and he was an angel.

I got him tested using UC Davis. He IS silver... he tested N/Z, so he has one copy of the silver gene Can't wait to see him all shed out

Side note... I've never seen snow stick to the trees like in the photos. Upstate NY. It was like that for almost a week and I was amazed every day

Upstate NY is amazing. I think part of the reason you're not used to that much snow on the trees is because you guys usually get so much wind with your snow it doesn't stick quite as well as it does here in KY, for instance.

That is one heck of a prance on that little guy!

Forgot to mention I've lived up here for over 17 years and hadn't seen snow like that. It was light fluffy snow too, not heavy like you might expect. I think it had something to do with frost forming first on the branches, then the snow fell and stuck. It was only about 8 degrees the day I took that picture.

Have to share one more... today it was 35 and sunny... the horses were obviously enjoying it... hoping to confirm shortly that the larger pony is silver bay... but for now... two napping silvers
