Three More Silver Welsh Confirmed!

We had an unusual colored colt born on our farm, which spurred DNA testing and the discovery of the silver gene. The colt, Primrose Sterling (Tylwyth Bonnies Pride x Rosmels Touch of Honey) is confirmed to be a smokey black silver dapple, carrying both the silver and the creme gene. His 2009 full brother, Bristol Silver King, is a cremello but also tested positive for the silver gene. We have been doing the research on the bloodlines to try to figure out where the silver is coming from suddenly in the welsh breed. We were almost positive it was coming from the dam, and testing on Rosmels Touch of Honey confirmed that she has the silver gene. We know that only a few purebred Welsh have tested positive (around 10 now) however we believe there are many more out there!! Very exciting stuff!
